Anthony Welcome The Great Resignation

The Great Resignation, AMS’s Goal Driven Culture and Our Newest Hire

More than anytime in history, Americans are calling it quits and clocking out. Since spring of 2021, more than 33 million Americans have quit their jobs. Many have speculated as to how or why this Great Resignation is happening; poor corporate culture, high inflation rates or merely workers taking the opportunity to decide on another career path. Whatever the case might be for an individual, it’s impossible to ignore the growing gap in jobs needing to be filled and unsatisfied workers.

With such uncertainty among the American population in these recent times, companies that have a solid foundation and high work satisfaction rates are a rarity and will be beacons for our economy moving forward. These rare characteristics can be found here at AMS, where every employee has proper communication from leadership of what they need to do to hit their goals, be a team player and overall be happier while at work.

Gaining Traction

Traction is a set of processes based on the book of the same name by Gino Wickman. The Traction approach focuses on six key components of business with the goal of emphasizing more focus, more growth and more enjoyment at work for both leadership and employees. The book lays out the EOS (Entrepreneurial Operating System), which has proven to be effective and is at the heart of everything we do at AMS. With these processes in place, every team member feels valued, has obtainable goals they are striving for and enjoys complete transparency from their leaders on how to execute the job correctly.
AMS has been acknowledged by its surrounding businesses for its well-run operations. At the end of 2021 AMS was awarded best places to work in Cincinnati and we continue to strive to make AMS a better company in every aspect.

Welcoming our Newest Team Member: Anthony Steffen

The EOS system emphasizes that the right people in the right seats can produce exceptional results. Someone who certainly understands the importance of good culture, proper communication, a good work-life balance, and is the right person in the right seat is our newest application engineer, Anthony Steffen. Anthony joins AMS after seven years of industry experience with Hahn Automation and Carter Intralogistics. “What attracted me to AMS was having a broad range of experiences and seeing that I could put those skills to use,” Anthony says. “As well as our Traction and Great Game of Business operations, and having a leadership team that wants to be transparent and open about everything.”

A lifetime Kentuckian, Anthony has spent his years just across the river in Alexandria. He graduated from Northern Kentucky University in 2015 with a mechanical and manufacturing engineering degree. “I thought I wanted to be a designer when I was younger. I was always into art and I actually went to college for graphic design for two years,” he says. “Then I switched to mechanical engineering. It’s perfect for me, it’s a mix of the creative side of design and art and also the technical side of building something.”

Anthony has quickly incorporated himself into the AMS team and his responsibilities. Since the beginning of January, he has been learning the ins and outs of his new role as application engineer. “I have experience with many different aspects of automation. I bring management experience and I’ve done design engineering, applications engineering, project management and even installations. So I’ve come across almost every aspect of constructing automated machinery.”

Not hesitant to get to work, Anthony has fit right into his role.“I am really enjoying my work thus far, I have really been focused on taking in as much as possible. Our senior sales engineer, Will, was actually on vacation for one of my first few weeks, which was a great opportunity to take on work and make an impact.”

We are lucky to have a talent like Anthony joining our team and it is a testament to AMS culture and EOS systems to be attracting top talent, even amidst this Great Resignation.
